Path is the word
"orach" that
means; trodden road, path, rank, traveller, troop, highway. "orach"
is made up from two parts "ore" (light) and "chet" (life).
The paths of
YHVH are "lit up" and "brings life". We see the same in Prov 4:18 and Psa 119:105 where it says that
YHVH's Word is a lamp upon my feet and a light ("ore") upon
my path ("orach"). If we now look at Prov 2:8, we see that YHVH
keeps/preserves/protects the path (light giving way that brings life) of
judgment (verdict, sentence, penalty) for the Saints (someone who is holy and
faithful, who has a passion to shine His Truth in this dark world).
Equity is the word
"mayshar" that means;
evenness, straightness, prosperity, in agreement, to be equal, upright, uprightness.
In context
with the word 'path' we have previously looked at, gives us the idea of a road
that is nice and straight and even to travel on and there is enough light for
you to see where you are going. This makes it the prefect road to travel on and is to be desired. This word 'equity' (mayshar) is first
used in Scripture in 1Chr 29:17 where it describes the
event prior to the building of the first Temple .
1Ch 29:17 I know also,
my Elohim, that You try the heart, and have pleasure in uprightness. I, in the
uprightness of my heart, have willingly offered all these things. And now I
have seen with joy Your people who are present here to offer willingly to You.
David said
that in the 'uprightness of his heart' (mayshar) he willingly
offered/gave and the people gave with the same heart as well. David blessed
YHVH for the people's generous hearts where they gave willingly and abundantly
for the building of the House of YHVH.
This colours
in the meaning of 'equity' being a straight and pleasant road to being a road
that is travelled by people with giving upright hearts. Love means to give and
you cannot love unless you part with something that you hold dear to your
heart. YHVH showed us what perfect love is by giving His Son, Y'shua and we can
return this love back to Him by firstly, giving our lives to him, giving up
your "self" and this we do by doing His Will and not your own any
more.
The opposite
of love is not hatred, it is selfishness and self worship. Most people,
especially atheists, worship them selves and everything they do revolves around
their own happiness. To worship 'someone else' is to strive towards that
person's happiness. Worship is not singing a song with flattery words,
glorifying someone; it is doing everything in your power to please the one you
worship.
Worship is the word “abad” - that means; to make, do, create, to be made
into, servant, slave, worshippers, worship, work, serve.
As a
Believer, to worship YHVH, you should try to do everything in your power to
please Him and not yourself. Everything you do should revolve around Him and
not around yourself, seeking His will and pleasure and not your own. I have
seen believers in many Churches worshipping them selves instead of YHVH. How
can I say this? Everything they do in Church is about them, how they feel, what
they can get, having their dreams fulfilled, making their lives comfortable. It
is no longer about YHVH, seeking to please Him, seeking His will in order to
please Him. The sole reason they go to Church is to have a good time and to get
their needs met from a giving loving God. The order is wrong, YHVH should not
serve and worship us, we should serve and worship Him. Surely He will provide
in all your needs but that should not be your focus or your motive.
The intensity
or success of your worship will depend on how much you give yourself and please
Him rather than yourself. Part of our worship towards YHVH is directed at
pleasing other people and this is called "loving your neighbour". To
really love someone else is to focus your efforts and time towards that person,
and he/she will notice that you love him/her. Your love will only be empty
flattery words (or songs of praises) if the "one you love" does not
experience it in a practical sense through your time, efforts of
attention.
YHVH
specifically enlightened us through His Word, which things He loves and which
things He hates. If you love Him then you will focus on the things that please
Him in order to make Him happy. YHVH will notice that you are trying your best
to please Him and experience that as true worship that makes Him feel loved.
Love is an action, it is something that flow form you outwardly to someone
else, that is why you prove that you love Him through your actions, the things
you do (good works/). Alarm bells goes off, blasphemy, legalist!!! How can you
do things to please YHVH, how can good works gain you anything?
Remember what
the real meaning of 'Worship' is; it is to work and to serve. We are not
talking about salvation here where you do good works to be saved, salvation is
through faith and by YHVH's Grace. We are talking about love and worship. YHVH
said many times in His Word that those who love Him will DO and obey His
commandments. We do this because we are saved and because we want to, not
because they have to or want something in return. Perfect love does not expect
anything in back.
Deut 7:9 Therefore,
know that YHVH your Elohim, He is God, the
faithful Elohim who keeps covenant and mercy with them that love Him and keep
His commandments, to a thousand generations.
Joh 14:15 If you love Me, keep My
commandments.
Joh 15:10 If you keep My
commandments, you shall abide in My love, even as I have kept My Father's
commandments and abide in His love.
1Jn 5:3 For this is the love of
YHVH, that we keep His commandments, and His commandments are not burdensome.
Good works
are always labelled as negative because (selfish) people try to obey the
Commandments to get something in return. This makes all their efforts self
worship and is not pleasing unto YHVH. It said in 1Chr 29:9 that the
people gave willingly with a perfect heart.
Perfect is the word
"shalem" that means;
safe, friendly, to be at peace and complete.
It is the
same word as we all know as Shalom that is translated as peace. These people
gave with peace and friendliness in their hearts; there were no hidden agenda
like wanting something back. They gave willingly, freely, without expecting
anything in return other than the presence of YHVH. They had the right motive and
were at peace inside them selves, making their hearts perfect, having the right
attitude of love and worship towards YHVH.
Giving, love
and worship are so closely related and cannot be separated without loosing its
true meaning. The ultimate form of worship is to give yourself 100%, doing
everything in your power to please YHVH and not expect anything in return, not
even salvation. I think this is the love David had for YHVH. He knew he was a
sinner and wanted to bless YHVH with everything in his power, knowing that it
was only through YHVH's Grace that he could be saved. His salvation was solely dependant on the
love and grace of YHVH. Psa 51:1-10. David knew that he
could never earn the love or salvation of YHVH, it is only because of YHVH's
Love, Kindness, Mercy and Grace. This is true love and true worship and the
Perfect Path to Travel on; the path of a servant, aiming to please and love His
Master, expecting nothing in return.
